Developed by Dr. Barry Sears, the Zone Diet Plan works based on the principle of harnessing the powerful, drug-like effects food on our body. It is a dietary strategy keeping hormone insulin in a perfect equilibrium: that is not too high nor to low. This is important simply because excess insulin causes excess weight and deteriorate our health. Therefore, is vital to control the insulin level.
Insulin level can be control by balancing protein, carbohydrate and fats. Dr. Sears believes that the underlying explanation of excess weight could be due by too many unfavorable carbohydrates (highly refined food e.g. grains ,starches and pastas: such as rice, potatoes, breads, cereal etc.) in our daily diet .Under Zone Diet Plan, dieters don't have to totally curtail the intake of these unfavorable carbohydrates. What you have to do is just taking in moderate amount and balance off with sufficient or adequate amount of protein and fat. This means, moderate-carbohydrate, moderate-protein, and moderate-fat.
There are only 3 main basics to follow under Zone Diet
Plan. They are
1) Proper proportions of the
three macronutrients
2) Proper meal timing, and
3) Portion control.
